What is a Cuticle Pusher?
A cuticle pusher is an implement used by cosmetologists, nail technicians, and podiatrists. This tool is used to push any skin on the nail bed away from the nail bed. It also helps lift the cuticle off the nail bed, providing better access for cuticle cutting or nipping.
As a licensed cosmetologist, you learn to NEVER cut the cuticle because it is technically considered living skin. However, in today's society, many clients prefer their cuticles to be removed.
Using a cuticle pusher is an easy process and is actually the first step in nail prepping.
How to use a Cuticle Pusher?
You will start with the pinky finger. Place the cuticle pusher curved side down against the nail. Gently push the implement into the cuticle 3-4 times. Once this is done, use the cuticle pusher to gently lift the cuticle. Doing this will set up the cuticle for Step 2: E-FILING!
