DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU CAN BECOME A NAIL TECH AT THE AGE 16 !
Becoming a nail technician requires patience, confidence, class, and style.
Expressing the wish to "become a Nail tech" marks the start of a transformative career path. The first step is to get acquainted with all the tools you might need to use. It's important not only to become familiar with the tools but also to explore the various paths available, such as Acrylic application, Polygel application, Gel X application, and Dip powder application.
Let me share some information about each technique, beginning with acrylic.
ACRYLIC
Acryic nails are made of two componets Monomer (Liquid) and Polymer ( Powder)
Acrylic nails were created in the 1950s and became popular in the 1960s, largely among African Americans.
Many nail technicians and cosmetologists have been avoiding this technique due to the strong odor produced by the monomer. In most states, to pass the state board exam, which is necessary for obtaining a license, it is required to know how to apply acrylic using an odorless monomer. Here's a fun fact about odorless monomer: it causes the drying time of acrylic to double, meaning the acrylic hardens more slowly, making it more challenging to mold.
So i'd definetly recommend that weather you choose acylic as your chosen teqnique you still take time out to somwhat perfect its at least for the state board!
GEL X
I'm certain there are many artists who just need a canvas. If you're interested in nail art, I highly recommend becoming a Gel X nail technician. Once you perfect the application process, it can be done quickly, giving you more time to create stunning designs.
Gel x is a full coverage tip applied to the nail bed with a resin-based glue, then cured using UV/LED light.
POLYGEL
Polygel is essentially a paste-like gel that is shaped using a slip solution (alcohol). Since polygel is thick, it doesn't require building; it just needs to be molded into the shape of a nail. Personally, I find it to be the most challenging technique to perfect, but I've met many polygel technicians who are excelling at it!
BUILDER GEL
Builder gel is a gel that requires layering. It is packaged in a bottle similar to nail polish, and after being applied, it needs to be cured. The gel should be applied until a thick, nail-like structure is achieved. This method also necessitates the use of LED/UV light for curing. It's considered one of the more challenging techniques, but I'm confident that if you focus, you will excel!
DIP
Finally, I must mention that dip is probably the most time-consuming technique. It involves a lot of repetition of steps. I haven't met a DIP technician yet, but I'm certain they exist.
